NTA Announces Exam Schedule for JEE-Main, NEET-UG 2019

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the dates for registration and exam schedule of various competitive exams such as Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-main) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) on Tuesday. And as first reported by TOI earlier this month, the NEET-UG will be "a single exam in pen and paper mode and in the same number of languages as has been conducted in 2018."

The government earlier in July 2018 announced a tentative schedule for the exams and also said that the JEE-main and NEET-UG will be conducted twice a year and all the exams will be computer based. However, following request from the ministry of health and family welfare, it was decided that the medical/ dental entrance test will continue to be an annual exam on pen and paper mode with no change in pattern.

JEE-Main 1 will be conducted from January 6 to 20, 2019 and JEE-Main 2 will be from April 6 to 20, 2019 and NEET-UG will be held on May 5, 2019.

The NTA has also announced the dates for announcement of the results as well. According to Vineet Joshi, director-general, NTA, "We are also establishing a countrywide network of test practice centres (TPCs) for students of rural areas so that everyone will have an opportunity to practice before the exam. From September 1, 2019 on every Saturday and Sunday 2,697 schools/ engineering colleges with computer centres are being made available and any student can use the facility free of charge. A mobile application is being developed which will enable the students to choose the nearest TPC."
